The true meaning of Christmas!

What is the true meaning of Christmas to you?

Christmas to me is all about love and family and sharing. With this particular Christmas being very special, not just because it will be at the heart of the family – my parents home – but it will be the very first Christmas for our beloved Granddaughter, and as a family we will all get to share that. Great grandparents,  grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, siblings!  A home filled with plenty of love and laughter!

Unfortunately, not everyone can be so fortunate!

Christmas is also about community. About giving and sharing and helping those less fortunate then ourselves. A wonderful local organisation that helps enhance the well-being of the frail aged, the disabled, the carers of these community members as well as families in need throughout the year is North Ryde Community Aid.  This year they hope to deliver between 250 – 270 Christmas food hampers and gifts to frail elderly clients and also families in need in our area!  They don’t receive any funding for this program and so rely entirely on donations from our community.

Wouldn’t you love to be apart of this wonderful program? To help those who have been serving our community for many years and now need our love and support. Just to know that someone does care! The gift of putting a smile on someones face – is priceless.

So what can you do to help? As an individual you can go so far as to volunteer your time and help out, or just by contributing a non-perishable food item or gift to go towards fulfilling a hamper is greatly appreciated. As a group, why not make up your own Xmas food and gift hamper. Believe me the wonderful volunteers at North Ryde Community Aid would be ever so grateful. You can contact them via email or phone them on 02 9888 3380. Otherwise you can leave your donations at 4 Cutler Parade, North Ryde.

Now I’m off to organise my Xmas hamper and all the wonderful goodies I can put in it.  I wish you and your family a truly wonderful Christmas filled with joy, love and laughter.

Merry Christmas!
